What creates the transformation on our programme?

At Mastering Awareness, we are often asked whether our Women of Colour in Leadership programme, focuses on “fixing” and moulding women to fit into a system that is designed to keep them stuck?

Let’s clear that up, then offer more insight to help you assess if this space is for you.

A quick self-check

Do any of these thoughts feel familiar?

  1. “I’m tired of constantly having to prove myself.”
  2. “I know I have more to offer, but I’m stuck at this level.”
  3. “I want to lead authentically, not fit a mould.”
  4. “I’m often the only one who looks like me in the room.”
  5. “I’m ready for senior leadership, but I need the right kind of support.”

From Lonely Island to Island of Support

Our Women of Colour clients describe leadership as standing on a beautiful, but isolating island, feeling both visible & invisible, feeling vulnerable and one misstep away from being misunderstood.

This programme is designed to ferry delegates from that Lonely Island to an Island of Support; that inspires feelings of self-worth, confidence and connection with self and others.

Below is a summary of what our delegates often share with us:

BeforeAfter
Feeling stuck Being seen and supported
Lonely IslandClarity on how to increase collaboration & a clearer plan for their next steps
Feeling invisible in meetingsValued for their insight and presence
Feeling tiredRenewed sense of purpose and power
Overthinking and self-doubtTrusting their voice and taking up space
Being the only one in the roomBelonging to a community that “gets it”
Holding it all inSpeaking up with authority, openness and curiosity and using silence more powerfully
Exhausted from proving selfMoving with purpose, clarity and power
Lacking confidenceConfidence in their leadership path

What this programme isn’t:

✘ It’s not about fixing you.
✘ It’s not a generic leadership course.
✘ It’s not about learning to “fit in” or code-switch your way to the top.

What it is:

A powerful, safe and affirming space where you’ll:

Reclaim your energy – explore how fatigue and frustration show up and learn to lead without burning out.

Build an authentic leadership presence – communicate through an open lens – no more shrinking, shapeshifting or proving.

Strengthen your voice – confidently navigate bias and advocate for yourself without second-guessing.

Clarify your next steps – have the support you need to feel ready for a new promotion, take responsibility for your development and gain more influence where you are.

Connect with a sisterhood of peers – feel heard, seen and supported through a lens of empathy and challenge that transforms your mindset and inspires growth habits.

Our story & final thoughts

The Women of Colour in Leadership programme was launched in 2022 and has been running ever since , with consistently powerful feedback on its impact.

Designed with Women of Asian and Black heritage in mind, the programme challenges the limiting stereotypes that keeps us stuck. But more than that, it offers a space to gain practical tools and strategies that don’t just reward hard work; they encourage us to work smarter, with purpose, clarity, and confidence.
